A question we are often asked by customers is what is the cost of scaffolding?
This is a very open question and hard to answer without knowing what type of scaffold is required along with many other factors.
We are often asked if we can provide a ballpark figure and while on some occasions this is possible unfortunately for certain structures it is impossible to give a price without further info and a site visit.
Scaffolding is actually a job that requires trained and qualified scaffolders to complete working at height regulations and it may appear to you as a simple framework, but it takes a lot of knowledge and skills to erect such structures in a safe and secure way.
Below we have detailed our current guide price list as of 2025 with more information on how we actually price our scaffolds.
There are many factors involved when estimating the cost of a scaffolding structure and these include the following:
How long would you need the scaffolding up for? We include 4 weeks hire as standard, but some scaffolds need hiring for a longer period which is not a problem, but we will have to factor that into our quote. Also, if you do go over the agreed hire period there will be an additional cost which is generally worked out as a weekly hire rate.
How high is the scaffold going? Obviously the higher the structure the more it will cost, and this is due to the fact that it is more time consuming passing the equipment up 10 storeys than it would be 2 storeys.
How easy is it to get the equipment to the area you need the scaffold erected? Is there a long walk from our lorry to the site or do we have to walk the materials through a property to gain access? If access is limited this will cost more as again it will be more time consuming to get the equipment we need to the area that needs scaffolding putting up.
The more working lifts or levels you require the more expensive the scaffold price will be, for example access to a roof would only require 1 boarded lift but if your property is being rendered or painted then it may require multiple lifts.
If your property is on a public footpath, walkway or a road then we would need to apply for a licence with the local authorities which we would need to include in our scaffold prices.
In some instances, there may be special requirements when erecting scaffolds for example our scaffolding Guildford team can only erect a scaffold at a certain time of day or night or only on a weekend which we have done many times in the past. Other problems may occur when bridging over things like driveways, paths or conservatories, in these instances then we may need to use specialist equipment including beams so our costs may increase.
You may feel that the cost of scaffolding is expensive, but it is an integral part of providing access to areas you are unable to reach by ladder or the ground safely. We hope we have helped you to understand what is involved when pricing a scaffold and that we only ever provide open and honest costs to erect a safe scaffolding structure.
