Scaffold tower to provide safe access for roof repairs on a 2-storey in Reigate

Scaffolding for roof access.

Site location: Wray Park Road, Reigate.

Customer needs: This customer required a scaffold at the front of their 2-storey property for access to the roof so that repairs could be completed. This scaffolding was rented for a total of 4 weeks and was priced at £350.

Obstacles and challenges we needed to resolve: There were no issues when putting this structure up. This was a simple scaffolding tower for our team to erect, so we used one of our smaller trucks to transport the equipment as this type of tower does not use up a lot of materials compared to larger scaffolds, so one of our bigger lorries was unnecessary. We found access to be good, and we had plenty of room to erect the tower.

What we accomplished: Our team erected a scaffolding tower for roof repairs on the front of this 2-storey property. This tower was approximately 3.9 metres wide by 5 metres high and was built with a total of 3 scaffold lifts, with only the top lift being fully boarded.

Other Information

  • We used 6x 21ft steel tubes as standards (uprights) for this tower.
  • Two raker supports were used to help further secure the tower to the front.
  • The top lift was erected to gutter height for easy access to the tiled roof.
  • The working lift was fully boarded at six boards wide.
  • We also added double handrails and toe boards as fall prevention around the top platform.
  • Ladder access was supplied to the right-hand side of the structure.
  • A ladder gate was also installed on the top platform.
  • Braces were fixed on the first 2 lifts but not on the 3rd, as this was a flyer lift which was only a couple of feet high.
  • Four transom tubes and 2 ledgers were installed on all 3 scaffolding lifts.
  • Sole boards and baseplates were used to place the upright tubes on.
 

Length of hire: The work our customer needed to complete would take no longer than the standard 4 weeks rental period we include within all our quotations. This gave them more than enough time.
