Scaffolding tower for roof access.

We were asked to provide a scaffolding quotation for a small access tower to the front of a 2-storey property. Our local Cobham scaffolders installed the access tower so the customer could reach the roof area and complete the required repair work. As it was only a small scaffolding structure, we priced this tower at £300, which included 4 weeks’ hire.
There were no challenges with this scaffold. It was very straightforward to erect and dismantle. The main thing our scaffolders needed to ensure was safe access to the front door of the house. We could park our truck directly outside the front of this brick-built property, so our lads did not have to walk far to get the materials.
This scaffolding tower was 2.4 metres wide and 5.0 metres high, with 3 scaffolding lifts, the top one of which was a fully boarded platform. To build this access structure, we used 4 x 21 ft scaffold tubes as the uprights; we also installed 6 ledgers (2 on each lift) and 6 braces (2 on every lift). Our team added sway braces to the 2nd and 3rd lifts only to keep the front door completely clear. This tower required 3 lifts to be erected, with only the top lift being used as a working platform. The top lift was installed to gutter level, providing clear access to the required section of the roof. The scaffold was 6 scaffolding boards wide and included a safety ladder gate, fall-protection handrails, and toe boards. We provided ladder access from the ground to the top lift. The tower was approximately 8ft wide, which was more than enough to give the homeowner clear exit and entry from their house.
In our quotation, we gave the customer a 4-week rental period.
