We were asked to supply a quotation to provide access scaffolding to the side elevation of a 2-storey property in Bramley, to give access to the soffits and fascias for repair and cleaning works. The quoted price was £600 and included a 4-week hire period.
The scaffolding was a pretty straightforward structure, apart from a garage with a sloping roof that blocked a section of the gable end, so we had to adapt the scaffolding slightly to account for it.
We erected a scaffold that was nearly 7 metres long on the top lift and 5.5m high from the ground. This structure consisted of 3 scaffold lifts, with only the top lift being boarded. The scaffolding was 5 boards wide and had double safety handrails and toe boards fitted around the edge of the top working platform. We installed ladder access on the left-hand side of the structure. An attached garage on the side of the property had a sloping roof, so we needed to build the scaffolding to accommodate it. To overcome this slight obstacle, we placed the ledger tube for the 2nd and 3rd lifts onto scaffold boards resting on the garage roof, which helped support the weight of the ledgers. We also extended the top lift handrails past the garage roof’s ridge tiles to give the client enough room to access the soffits on the right-hand side.
