This client required a simple scaffold to the rear of their two-storey property to give a builder access to the soffit and fascias, which needed to be replaced. However, this client’s home had a conservatory in the way, so the scaffold had to be bridged over it without touching the glass roof. Our scaffolders regularly provide conservatory scaffolding services for properties where a safe working platform needs to be created above or around an existing structure.
No issues or problems arose, so this was a straightforward up-and-over conservatory job. We just needed to take caution when building the tube framework and extra care when our professional scaffolders installed the beams over the conservatory, so no damage was caused to the roof or structure.
After leaving our Surrey yard, our skilled scaffolding Guildford staff erected two small scaffold towers on either side of the conservatory, with the left side providing access to the top boarded lift via a ladder. We then carefully bridged over the conservatory using aluminium beams, without bearing any load on the roof, as the beams were put in place to take the weight; we then created the working platform on top of the beams using scaffold boards (5 wide), along with the normal safety handrails and toe boards. The top-boarded working lift was placed well below the gutter level of the property roof to enable easy access to the soffit and fascias.
They were given 4 weeks’ hire in our quotation; however, they only used the scaffold for 2 weeks.
We also incorporated aluminium beams into our temporary roofing scaffold project on Wherwell Road, Guildford, where they supported the roof framework used to create a weather-resistant covering for a loft conversion.
